I don't think there will be any factors that will affect my participation or experience in this class. I have access to all the essentials like computer, phone, and transportation. My family is very supportive when it comes to school. They are the reason I am on top of my assignments and not leave things till the end. I have organized my daily schedule so that I can fulfill my tasks and still have a fun time. I'm not too overwhelmed with school, clubs, sports, and my social life.
An awesome learning experience that changed me was this in-class assignment in AVID where we were breaking down a speech from an unknown commander. At first I saw it as just another boring document assignment where we highlight and underline but as we had discussions about it we figured out that it was a motivational speech from Alexander the Great. This is crazy because we were just learning about him in AP World so I already knew a little more on the subject. The way we found out around where and what time the speech was spoken without saying it in the speech itself but looking at little clues influenced how I see documents now. This showed me that there are many ways to uncover a mystery. This all happened like two days ago so it's still fresh in my memory.
I am most excited to focus most of my assignments on technology. This is something that I've never done before. I know that we'll be reading and writing because this is an English class but it doesn't feel like the rest. This unique way of expressing the ideas of students through blogs and other stuff is a great idea. I look forward to learning new ways to obtain information not just by reading them. This will make a difference in my life because with the whole schedule change, I was kind of freaking out of how much homework I was going to get. Now that I know that for English some part of it will rely on blogs and videos, it gives me a sign of relief! :)
